She would run back and forth between Aaron and I in her version of a hugging game. The problem with this is that mommy was on one side, daddy on the other, and the red spot was on neither side. Because not only did she want Cordy to sit down, she wanted her to sit on a small red spot on the floor! If Cordy wasn’t in the general area of the magic red spot, she would not even attempt a picture. However, the photographer was also lacking in creativity – you know, the one trait a good photographer should possess. Apparently JC Penney can’t handle taking pictures of toddlers who stand up. I peeked in to see the photographer sitting on the floor with her camera, and Aaron trying to convince Cordelia to sit down. When I arrived a little after 2pm, they had just gone into the photography room. He was trying to keep her entertained, or well, at least trying to keep her contained in the waiting area. It seems having an appointment doesn’t guarantee quick service. I called when my interview was over (about 1:45), and he said they were still waiting. I left after lunch, and Aaron ran Cordy in the mall play area for awhile. We had other plans for the day as well, so we figured it would be a quick session, a few cute pics, and then be on our way. I had an interview at 12:30, and hoped to be back with Aaron and Cordy by 1:30. go first if there’s a crowd, so we thought it best to eat lunch, then come back. We arrived there at 11:45 and decided to make an appt. Free 8×10, free sitting fee, and $3.99 portrait sheets. (Although now they could be considered vintage, I guess.)īut Sears has been stingy with the coupons lately, and JC Penney had a good coupon, so we tried them today. Now they use plain white gauze, solid black, and props that weren’t first used in the 70’s. No longer are you limited to the light blue with wispy clouds or the mottled brown background. Plus, in the past few years they’ve made some enormous improvements to their backgrounds and props. They’re generally inexpensive, and the one near us usually has excellent photographers who are patient and creative with our stubborn child. We had fancy pictures done once, and were quite happy with them, but unwilling to pay over a hundred dollars again for pictures. In the past, we’ve taken Cordy to Sears for pictures. More specifically: JC Penney portrait studio. And today I got to delve into the dark, dusty, evil world of portrait studios. But truly bad customer service really gets on my nerves. They have never pressured me, and I'm also bad at saying "No thanks".I don’t mind the occasionally delay or slightly off customer service. I don't like to look cheap so I buy a couple sheets of 8x10s while I'm there and I tell them I'll order the rest online later. I suggest you bring your own props and cute outfits! I am going in for Ava's 1- year pictures next week. They do a good job there too- but some of their pics can look pretty generic if you use their props. If you decide to go with them and can't figure out how to save the pictures to your computer from their website let me and and I can talk you through it :) Also, they send you about an email a day with discounted prices, up to like 60% off or something, so that CD would have become affordable after the fact if ordered through the website after your session. I later bought Christmas cards online through their website. I spent less than $15 at each of those visits. I paid $0 in sitting fees for 4 people and a dog and then bought only a couple sheets for $3.99 each (the ones I wanted 8x10s of). It made our Halloween and Christmas pics super cheap. I also bought the portrait studio package thingy where I don't have to pay sitting fees for 2 years for Ava or for anyone in the pictures with Ava (I think it was $30). I paid $3.99 a sheet for the pictures I really liked and ending up spending close to $100 for everything. They print nicely as wallets or 4圆, but not much bigger depending on the shot - but I was able to get a copy of all of her pictures that way. I'm pretty sure you aren't *allowed* to do this though. HOWEVER, after your session, your pictures are available online and I was able to copy and paste the pictures so that I could save them all to my computer. For her 6 month pictures I wanted to buy every single shot they took, even the bad ones, but didn't want to pay $150 for a CD and no prints. I use JC Penny and I don't remember the exact CD cost but it was too much for me! I think it was like $150.
